How to Get Quake in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Quake shakes the ground and hits everything around you several times over. It is Terra-only, and it is a required ingredient for Meteor, which is the main reason most people come looking for it. Five recipes exist, two at 90% and three at 30%.

How to Meld Quake (Best Odds First)

Ingredient 1 Ingredient 2 Odds Works for Simulator Link
Brutal Blast Zero Graviga 90% Terra only Try this combo
Brutal Blast Magnega 90% Terra only Try this combo
Brutal Blast Brutal Blast 30% Terra only Try this combo
Stun Edge Mine Shield 30% Terra only Try this combo
Binding Strike Mine Square 30% Terra only Try this combo

Every route needs Brutal Blast or one of the mine commands, and Brutal Blast itself is Terra-only. Use one of the two 90% recipes.

Two Traps Worth Knowing About

Quake shares ingredients with three other commands, and the odds are not in your favour on any of them.

Brutal Blast + Brutal Blast gives Geo Impact at 70% and Quake at only 30%. Since you need both Geo Impact and Quake for Meteor, that is not a disaster, but do not use this pair expecting a Quake.

Stun Edge + Mine Shield and Binding Strike + Mine Square both give Brutal Blast at 70% and Quake at 30%. Again the common result is the ingredient, not the target.

Going the other way, the two 90% Quake recipes also give Meteor at 10%. So if you already have a Geo Impact banked, a failed Quake attempt occasionally hands you the Meteor directly.

Which Crystal Should You Use?

Brutal Blast + Zero Graviga with a Wellspring Crystal gives Once More. This is the recipe to use. Best odds available and the best ability in the set. It also gives Fire Boost on Shimmering, Finish Boost on Pulsing and EXP Chance on Abounding.

The other 90% recipe, Brutal Blast + Magnega, gives Combo Plus on Wellspring instead, so there is no reason to prefer it unless Zero Graviga is out of reach.

Curiously, the worst-odds recipe has the second-best abilities. Brutal Blast + Brutal Blast gives Second Chance on Pulsing and Cure Boost on Shimmering. But at 30% for Quake and 70% for Geo Impact, treat that as a Geo Impact recipe that sometimes surprises you.

Level Quake before melding it into Meteor or you lose the ability.

Commands That Use Quake as an Ingredient

Both are guaranteed, and both are worth building, so consider making two Quakes. Meteor and Meteor Crash are different commands despite the similar names.

Building the Brutal Blast First

Every good Quake recipe needs a Brutal Blast, and that is Terra-only with two recipes, both at 70%:

MeldOddsResult
Stun Edge + Mine Shield70%Brutal Blast
Binding Strike + Mine Square70%Brutal Blast

Both of those pairs also give Quake directly at 30%, which is the clash described above. Since neither is guaranteed and you need several Brutal Blasts for the full Meteor chain, plan on farming a few extra Stun Edges and Mine Shields before you start.

Want to Test Your Melding Path?

Quake shares ingredients with three other commands, so the Command Melding Simulator is genuinely useful here for seeing what a pair can produce.

Use Brutal Blast + Zero Graviga with a Wellspring Crystal. Best odds, Once More attached, and it puts you one meld away from Meteor.
