KH BBS Melding Recipes by Ability
In Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, you do not meld for an ability directly. You meld a specific pair of commands, add a crystal, and that exact combination decides which passive ability the new command carries. The pair matters as much as the crystal: Cura + Cura with a Pulsing Crystal gives you Second Chance, while Cure + Cura with the same crystal gives Combo F Boost. Both make Curaga.
So this page is organized the way you actually shop for abilities. Pick the ability you want, then take one of the exact recipes listed under it and bring the crystal named in that section.
What is on this page: the most practical route to each ability worth planning around, which in almost every case means a guaranteed recipe on a command you would want to keep anyway. It is not an exhaustive list. There are 296 recipes in the game, and 32 different commands alone can carry Second Chance. For the complete set, use the melding calculator, which searches in both directions. To learn how crystals and abilities work in the first place, start with the beginner's guide or the crystal guide.
Second Chance
Survive any hit at 1 HP. Add a Pulsing Crystal, which drops from Bruiser-type Unversed as early as Enchanted Dominion. Curaga is the pick for most players: it is the strongest heal in the game, so you would build it regardless.

Once More
Survive a combo that would otherwise finish you. Add a Wellspring Crystal, which drops from Scrapper Unversed and Triple Wreckers in Neverland. Note that Stopga only carries Once More when melded from two Stopras: Stop + Stopra makes the same command with Air Combo Plus instead.

Leaf Bracer
Finish a cure animation without being interrupted, which is what makes Curaga reliable under pressure. Add a Pulsing Crystal. These are the cheapest recipes on the page, most of them one or two melds from commands you can buy in the first shop, so this is the ability to grab first.

EXP Walker
Earn experience as you walk, the fastest way to close a level gap before a boss. Add an Abounding Crystal. These are rare, turning up in treasure chests in Deep Space and Neverland or occasionally from Mandrakes in Radiant Garden, so spend them on a guaranteed recipe. Renewal Block and Renewal Barrier are the cheapest route if you already have Curaga.

The Abilities You Do Not Need to Plan For
Not every ability is worth hunting a recipe for. Combo Plus is carried by 78 different melds, Attack Haste by 68, Magic Haste and Treasure Magnet by 62 each, Reload Boost by 52. With numbers like that, whatever you were already melding will probably carry the one you want, so just add the crystal and check the result in the calculator before you commit.
That covers most of what the Fleeting, Hungry, Soothing and Shimmering crystals grant. The four abilities above are the exceptions worth building around. For the full breakdown of which crystal grants what, and where to farm each one, see the crystal guide.
Building the Ingredients
Every recipe above assumes you already have the ingredients. These are the melds that get you there, all listed without a crystal, since the ability only matters on the final command. Anything under 100% is worth re-rolling rather than settling for.
Looking for a command that is not here? The calculator holds all 296 recipes and searches both ways: pick a command to see every recipe that makes it, or pick two ingredients to see what they produce and which ability each crystal would attach.
