How to Get Mine Shield in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Mine Shield floats a defensive mine around you that blocks incoming hits and damages anything that touches it. Handy on its own, but like most of the mine commands its real value is as an ingredient. Five recipes want one, including Seeker Mine.

All four recipes are guaranteed. Two work for everybody and two are limited to Terra and Ventus.

How to Meld Mine Shield (All Guaranteed)

Playing Aqua? Only the first two recipes are open to you. Fira + Zero Gravity and Ignite + Stop both use common ingredients, so that is not much of a restriction.

Which Crystal Should You Use?

Every recipe is guaranteed, so this comes down to the ability.

Fira + Zero Gravity or Ignite + Stop with a Pulsing Crystal gives Leaf Bracer. Conveniently these are also the two recipes every character can use. Since you will probably be making several Mine Shields anyway, this is an easy way to bank Leaf Bracer early.

The two Block recipes give something else on Pulsing: Fira + Block gives Finish Boost, Stopra + Block gives Combo F Boost. Stopra + Block is the outlier of the set generally, giving Cure Boost on Shimmering and Item Boost on Soothing where the others give fire abilities and HP Boost.

For a fire deck, Fira + Zero Gravity gives Fire Boost on Shimmering while the other two fire recipes give Fire Screen.

Level each copy before melding it away if you want to keep the ability.

Commands That Use Mine Shield as an Ingredient

  • Seeker Mine, from Mine Shield + Mine Square, Aqua, 100%
  • Seeker Mine again, from Mine Shield + Magnega, Aqua, 100%
  • Ice Barrage, from Blizzaga + Mine Shield, Aqua, 100%
  • Brutal Blast, from Stun Edge + Mine Shield, Terra, 70%
  • Quake, from Stun Edge + Mine Shield, Terra, 30%

Terra players should note the clash on that last pair. Stun Edge + Mine Shield gives Brutal Blast at 70% or Quake at 30%, so you cannot reliably target one over the other. Brutal Blast is the usual goal since it leads to Geo Impact and Meteor.

Aqua players building Seeker Mine will want two Mine Shields, since both Seeker Mine recipes consume one.
