How to Get Sonic Blade in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Sonic Blade is a command people build on purpose rather than stumble into. It rushes you straight at
whatever you're fighting and keeps hitting, so it's great for bosses that like to dance around the
arena while you flail at empty air. If you're playing Terra there's a second reason to want it: three of
his heaviest late-game commands need it as an ingredient.
How to Meld Sonic Blade (All Known Recipes)
Three recipes, and two of them work for everybody. All three sit at 90%, so you'll fail one
occasionally:
Two of the three want Blitz, so make that first if you haven't. The Fire Dash
route is there for when you'd rather hang onto your Blitz for something else.
Which Crystal Should You Use?
Here's where your recipe choice actually matters. The ability is tied to the exact pair of
ingredients, not to Sonic Blade itself, so the three routes give you three different options.
Blitz + Air Slide with a Pulsing Crystal gives you Second
Chance. If you don't have Second Chance yet, use this one and don't overthink
it. Living through a combo at 1 HP beats any damage ability you could pick up this early.
Blitz + Dark Haze with a Pulsing Crystal gives Leaf Bracer
for Terra. Good backup option once Second Chance is already handled.
Fire Dash + Thunder Surge with a Pulsing Crystal gives Finish Boost. Pure damage.
Save it for when your defensive abilities are sorted out.
All three recipes give Combo Plus on a Wellspring Crystal, so if a longer ground combo is what you're
after, take whichever route is cheapest for you.
Standard warning: max out Sonic Blade before you meld it into anything else, or the ability you just
farmed goes with it.
Commands That Use Sonic Blade as an Ingredient
If you're Terra, Sonic Blade opens up a big chunk of your endgame deck:
- Chaos Blade, from Dark Haze + Sonic Blade
- Zantetsuken, from Sonic Blade + Stopga
- Ars Solum, from either Dark Haze + Sonic Blade or Sonic Blade + Stopga
Every single one of those is Terra-only. Playing Ventus or Aqua? Then Sonic Blade is the end of the
line for you, and you can spend it freely without worrying about what you're giving up.
The Full Build Chain
If you are starting from nothing, the shortest route runs through Blitz:
| Step | Meld | Odds | Result |
| 1 | Quick Blitz + Slot Edge | 90% | Blitz |
| 2 | Blitz + Air Slide | 90% | Sonic Blade |
Where the ingredients come from: Slot Edge is purchased from shops, and Air
Slide is an action command you unlock by leveling rather than something you meld. Quick
Blitz is available early too, so this chain opens up well before the endgame.
Want to Test Your Melding Path?
Not sure which recipe to go with, or trying not to waste a rare crystal on the wrong meld? The Command Melding Simulator will show you the result and the ability before you commit to
anything.
Sonic Blade is about as safe an investment as melding gets. It's strong by itself, it's cheap once you
have Blitz, and for Terra it unlocks Ars Solum and Zantetsuken later on. Build it early, level it up,
and think about your crystal before you press the button.
