How to Get Ars Solum in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Ars Solum is Terra's version of what Ventus gets with Ars Arcanum, a long punishing combo that's one of the best things he can put in a deck. It's Terra-only, and it comes with a catch that most commands don't have: nothing here is guaranteed. Your best odds are 20%. Bring spare ingredients.

How to Meld Ars Solum (Best Odds First)

Seven recipes exist. The top three are all 20%, and everything under that is a long shot:

Ingredient 1 Ingredient 2 Odds Works for Simulator Link
Dark Haze Sonic Blade 20% Terra only Try this combo
Dark Haze Stopga 20% Terra only Try this combo
Sonic Blade Stopga 20% Terra only Try this combo
Sliding Dash Thunder 5% Terra only Try this combo
Strike Raid Thunder 5% Terra only Try this combo
Strike Raid Thundara 5% Terra only Try this combo
Confusion Strike Thundara 5% Terra only Try this combo

Two of the three best recipes want Sonic Blade or Stopga, so get those sorted first. And since none of this is guaranteed, stock up before you start feeding the machine.

Watch Out: Every Recipe Competes With Something Else

This trips people up, so read this bit before you meld anything. Dark Haze + Sonic Blade is listed for Chaos Blade at 90% and for Ars Solum at 20%. What that means in practice is you'll usually end up with Chaos Blade.

Here is the part that makes Ars Solum genuinely awkward: all three of its 20% recipes are competing with something else, so there is no clean route at all.

  • Dark Haze + Sonic Blade gives Chaos Blade at 90%
  • Dark Haze + Stopga gives Zantetsuken at 80%
  • Sonic Blade + Stopga gives Zantetsuken at 80%

Whichever pair you pick, you will mostly be making a different command. The upside is that Chaos Blade and Zantetsuken are both excellent Terra commands, so the failed attempts are not wasted. Treat Ars Solum as something you collect while building those two rather than a thing you farm directly.

Which Crystal Should You Use?

The ability comes from the exact pair you used, and the three 20% recipes split into two groups.

Dark Haze + Sonic Blade and Dark Haze + Stopga both give Once More on a Wellspring Crystal. These two share an identical ability set. Once More is the one worth having, since surviving a whole combo at 1 HP is exactly the problem Terra runs into on Proud and Critical.

Sonic Blade + Stopga gives Second Chance on a Pulsing Crystal. The other half of the survivability pair, if that's the hole in your build.

Three of the four 5% recipes give Finish Boost on Pulsing instead. The odd one out is Confusion Strike + Thundara, which gives Combo F Boost. None of the long shots offer Once More or Second Chance at all, which is one more reason to stay on the 20% routes.

Max it out before melding it into anything else if you want to keep whatever you farmed.

Commands That Use Ars Solum as an Ingredient

Nothing melds from Ars Solum. After all that effort getting one, you don't have to agonise over whether to save it. Level it and put it in your deck.

Want to Test Your Melding Path?

Given the odds on this one, checking first is a good idea. The Command Melding Simulator shows you the result and the ability before you spend a crystal.

Ars Solum takes more patience than anything else on this site. No 100% route, 20% at best, and every recipe is competing with a command that is four to five times likelier to appear. Stock up on Dark Haze, Sonic Blade and Stopga, bring Wellspring Crystals, and expect to build a few Chaos Blades and Zantetsukens along the way.
