How to Get Curaga in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Curaga is the strongest heal in the game and probably the first thing you should build. It restores most or all of your HP in a single use and it stays relevant right through the endgame. Both recipes are guaranteed and both work for Terra, Ventus and Aqua, so there is nothing standing in your way except finding the Cures.

It is also one of the busiest ingredients in the whole melding system. Eleven separate recipes want a Curaga, so plan on making more than one.

How to Meld Curaga (Both Recipes)

Ingredient 1 Ingredient 2 Odds Works for Simulator Link
Cure Cura 100% Usable by Terra, Ventus, Aqua Try this combo
Cura Cura 100% Usable by Terra, Ventus, Aqua Try this combo

Cure is sold in shops from the first world, so this chain is available almost immediately. Cure + Cura is the cheaper route, since Cura + Cura burns two of the stronger command.

Which Crystal Should You Use?

Both recipes are guaranteed, so pick on the ability alone.

Cura + Cura with a Pulsing Crystal gives Second Chance. This is the reason to spend the second Cura. Getting Second Chance out of a recipe you were making anyway, this early in the game, is one of the best trades available to you.

Both recipes give Cure Boost on a Shimmering Crystal, which makes Curaga itself heal for more. That is a tidy little loop if you are building a survival-focused deck.

The rest of Cura + Cura: Reload Boost on Fleeting, Combo Plus on Wellspring, Defender on Soothing, Treasure Magnet on Hungry, Lucky Strike on Abounding. Cure + Cura differs on three of those, giving Magic Haste on Fleeting, Combo F Boost on Pulsing and Item Boost on Soothing.

Level it fully before melding it into anything else if you want to keep the ability.

Commands That Use Curaga as an Ingredient

This is where Curaga earns its place. Eleven recipes call for one:

  • Salvation, from Wind Raid + Curaga, Ventus, 100%
  • Renewal Block, from Curaga + Block, Terra and Ventus, 100%
  • Renewal Barrier, from Curaga + Barrier, Aqua, 100%
  • Slot Edge, at 90%, from Curaga plus Renewal Block, Focus Block, Renewal Barrier or Focus Barrier
  • Break Time, at 10%, from those same four pairings

Note the overlap on those last two. The same pair gives Slot Edge nine times out of ten and Break Time the rest, so if you want Break Time specifically you will be repeating that meld a lot. Slot Edge is useful anyway since it feeds Blitz.

Because so much depends on it, make at least two Curagas before you start spending them.

Want to Test Your Melding Path?

The Command Melding Simulator shows the result and ability before you commit a Cura to it.

Curaga is the safest early investment in the game. Two guaranteed recipes, available from the first world, a free Second Chance if you use Cura + Cura with a Pulsing Crystal, and eleven later recipes that need it. Build it first and build it twice.
